Lalibela / Roha / is the site of Lalibela Rock Hewn Churches. King Lalibela is responsible for the foundation of these famous rock-cut churches at Lalibela / Roha / city. King Lalibela belonged to the Zagwe dynasty, the dynasty that came to power after the collapse of the Axumite dynasty. It is miraculous to see the typical axumite architecture and the early Christian basilica on these churches carved into the rock as well as their own art and aesthetic value.
