Non esiste forse nessuna regione al mondo che ospita così tante varietà di uccelli, molte delle quali uniche o endemiche, come gli altipiani e le pianure dell’Etiopia. L’Etiopia è infatti una delle principali destinazioni di birdwatching nel continente africano, vantando più di 850 specie conosciute, di cui 23 endemiche all’ Etiopia. Gli habitat che sostengono la vita degli uccelli sono i laghi della Rift Valley, il massiccio degli altipiani, le foreste e le pianure.
